What is it?

The Office of Local Government maintains a wide variety of data related to economics, public finance, demographics, and more. These data are useful for state and local-level studies of economic trends and impact analysis, government budget analysis, and planning studies to name only a few. OLG welcomes questions from legislators, state agencies, university specialists and local government representatives that can provide greater insight into questions of importance to local governments in Kansas.

How can this tool be used?

These are only a few of the types of studies the Office of Local Government provides:

  • Local government finance trend and comparative analyses
  • Economic impact and policy analysis
  • Development impact analysis, including fiscal impacts, traffic impacts, socio-economic impacts, and environmental impacts
  • Public service feasibility and organization
  • Public and private sector market analysis
  • Analysis of intergovernmental public service sharing

What does it take to make this happen?

Depending on the nature of the questions asked and the use of the information generated, there is typically a fee for this service. The amount depends on the complexity and extent of the analysis.
